Exclusive use of Thanda Island and the surrounding marine reserve is offered for a minimum of five nights. The Villa accommodates ten adults in five suites, with additional accommodation available for up to eight guests in two traditional Tanzanian Bandas (double-storey beach chalets) and a further eight guests on the superyacht Sea Leopard.
Upon arrival, Thanda Island instantly becomes your home. Surrounded by the coral reefs and nothing but the ocean, the island is yours to explore at your own pace. Whether you’re a water enthusiast or prefer spending the days on the beach, the life on the island won’t disappoint you. Choices are endless – go swimming with the whale sharks or snorkelling at one of the snorkelling spots around the island; stop by the boathouse and choose your toy for the day: jet skis, wakeboards, water skis, SUP boards, etc.; explore neighbouring islands or go sunset cruising in Thanda’s 82-foot yacht; enjoy private-island-style Spa treatments by your spa therapist; play tennis at the island’s court, or just enjoy sunrise or sunset walks on a private 1.1km long sandy beach.
The owners are Swedish entrepreneurs Christin and Dan Olofsson who created their fantasy island home here: a Cape Cod-esque beach house with Scandi style interiors, plus two traditional Tanzanian bandas on the beach. When the Olofssons are not holidaying, the whole island is yours to rent. The lovely team and the passion for what they do will make you feel part of the Thanda family. Here you arrive with a handshake and leave with a hug.
Thanda Island is the perfect destination for groups of friends or entire families. It can host up to 18 people simultaneously, and the accommodation consists of a beautifully designed beach villa (five double suites) and two traditional Tanzanian Bandas (beach chalets).
The team at Thanda Island is devoted to sustainability and preservation of nature: from coral reef conservation and protection of endangered marine species to reducing the carbon footprint. The entire island is powered by solar energy, and the rainwater is collected for sustainable water usage. So you can enjoy an eco-friendly holiday at Thanda Island.
Getting to Thanda Island is easy – international guests fly to the brand new Dar es Salaam airport and are then escorted to board the Thanda private helicopter for a direct 35-minute flight to the island.
